Julien Bergignat designed the tatoo bicycle helmet with Patrice Mouille inspired from the small animal armadillo. It is very simple, there is a flexible but tear resistance plastic (polypropylene) laminate cut in the appropriate shape, some foam (also polypropylene) pads, two clips and the straps. You simply fold it, clip it and wear it. It is easily stored because when unclipped it is flat. Read more .. by IKE 12-Jan-2010 12:58
Audi made a big impression with the original e-tron concept, it was based in the already impressive R8, it was a different color in every show and by 'accidentally' mistaken the thrust in the wheels with the motors torque appeared more powerful than a Leopard tank. The second e-tron concept unveiled yesterday in Detroit is more realistic. It is a little smaller than an Audi TT and it has two electric motors (one for each rear wheel) that combined have a power of 201hp. Read more .. by IKE 11-Jan-2010 13:05
Today the Detroit Auto show opens its doors and the local 3 (or two and a half?) manufacturers will showcase their new and revamped models and concept cars. GMC may survived last year's crisis but its lineup is almost entirely slightly rebadged Chevrolets with no specific brand image or policy. The Granite concept may be crucial in defining what GMC is or would be. Read more .. by IKE 09-Jan-2010 15:23
More and more concept cars are emerging until the Geneva motor show open its doors on March. Some are totally unfeasible futuristic, some are slightly Β‘conceptizedΒ’ production models and others like this new Sr1 concept by Peugeot although would never reach production showcase the design trend of the automaker. The Sr1 is a 2+1 seat convertible; there are the conventional two front seats and an enlarged in the middle rear bench where an extra passenger can sit if necessary (and if he/she can fit there). As expected this concept is a hybrid and it is a convertible with a sailing-grade plastic material for the roof. Read more .. by IKE 08-Jan-2010 00:45
This is not a new concept, Suzuki presented it in the 2007 Tokyo motor show and although it was very well received it hadn't attracted the attention it deserved. Today however the market for very small trucks is about to explode, especially in the very crowded developing cities of India and the X-HEAD is maybe the best example of how to design a small truck. It has the mechanical gear of the Jimny and similar dimensions. It may be small and relatively cheap but it looks tougher than a Hummer without provoking the eco-fashion police, modern as an aluminum Apple laptop and cuter than a Pokemon. These things can characterize a design as good but the X-Head is exceptional because at the same time its shape is function driven and the vehicle is purely utilitarian. This is an old terraced house in Singapore renovated from Ong & Ong architects. The main concept is the continuation of the interior and exterior space and the seamless integration of the new appearance with the neighborhood. The owner requested more light to the living spaces of the house and the aluminum cladding, the glass doors to the back yard / pool and the white surfaces reflect the sun and transfer the light far into the house. We don't usually feature footwear but this is such a clever design. It is called Mojito and it is designed by Julian Hakes. Its concept is to use the foot as a structural member of the shoe thus eliminating most of it. It is a single surface bended and twisted and it is made from 3 layers, leather from the 'inside', a carbon fiber core for structural rigidity and a rubber layer for traction. This is a concept by Ryan Skelley inspired by the great races of Dakar and Baja rallies. It is a concept for future Bowler racecars. Bowler is a small company that makes bespoke rally raid racecars with Land Rover mechanical parts and a body design similar to Land Rover production vehicles. The Raptor is a open cockpit buggy that evolves both the LR design language and the Bowler architecture. It is of course a preliminary study but well thought nonetheless. This is the Code-X Yacht, another design that after Wally diverges from the generic rounded white shape that most yachts has. CODE-X AG, is based in Meggen Switzerland, on Lake Lucerne and develops this Yacht with SILICON-FIRE AG. Instead of rounded shapes Code-X uses an edged form, of the popular "stealth" trend which here is very well implemented to give a simple but very aggressive design. Read more ..
