Sea Perch is probably the easiest way to build your own underwater ROV. It is an evolution from a design featured in the book "Build Your Own Under Water Robot and Other Wet Projects" by Harry Bohm and Vickie Jensen further developed from MIT Sea Grant program. Its design is fully open and it can be constructed easily with simple and cheap materials.

The small UAV in the photo above that looks like a flying saucer is the Embler demonstrator from the AESIR UAS company. UK-based AESIR originates from the GFS Projects, a small start-up from Geoff Hatton (GFS stands for Geoff's Flying Saucers). Its core product is air vehicles that take advantage of the Coanda Effect in order to produce a stable and practical VTOL UAV that can hover and navigate even inside buildings.

The troubled Bertone design studio will present this concept car in the forthcoming Geneva motor show. It is named Pandion (a kind of sea bird) and it aims to showcase the potential of the studio. Pandion of course isn't a slightly camouflaged production car, it is just a design proposition showcasing some ideas that may apply to a future Alfa Romeo or (more likely) to any Bertone client. Studios usually use a brand for their concepts that sometimes may end up as production vehicles for other automakers. For example Italdesign Lucciola concept for a Fiat Cinquecento replacement lead to the Daewoo Matiz.

Jotto Caspita even if largely unknown is probably the most famous Japanese supercar. It was conceived from Jiotto Design inc. of Japan, a new then design studio and was developed by Dome, one of the most experienced engineering and motorsport companies in Japan. The Caspita would compete with the other supercars of that era in a market that was peaked and ready to collapse.

5 by Peugeot is a slightly disguised as a concept version of the forthcoming 508 mid-class sedan. The 508 will be bigger than the 407 and smaller than 607 and it will eventually replace both. The '5' together with the recent Sr1 concept show the new design language of Peugeot.

Every year Rinspeed has a strong presence in the Geneva motor show, this year with the relatively conventional (for Rinspeed) UC? concept. It is a 2-seat electric city car that looks like a mini Fiat 500. As always with Rinspeed designs there is also a crazy feature but this time it is the interior.

Two years ago when Williams F1 was preparing for the 2009 season it bought a small company named Automotive Hybrid Power Ltd in order to co-develop its KERS system. The company renamed as Williams Hybrid Power and the kinetic energy storage system that it designed may never raced in Formula 1 but it now faces a much wider potential of various uses. The first one is the hybrid powertrain of the new Porsche GT3R Hybrid.

DARPA is requesting proposals for a new kind of UCAV that will be start test flights as soon as 2012 in order to be deployed in the next years. The program is called Next Generation Close Air Support aircraft and as its name suggest its role will be to provide air support to land forces, a role that today is filled by A-10s, F-16s or similar aircraft. Because of the short term nature of the program DARPA will consider both bespoke unmanned aircraft and converted versions of human piloted aircraft. The specialized A-10 will probably form a good candidate and you can see a preview in this altered photo above.
