The Ferrari FF is a very big car. It has similar dimensions with the 612 and probably an evolution of its aluminum spaceframe. It is 4.907mm long, 1953mm wide and it weighs 1790kg, not bad for a big V12 GT. The engine that replaces the F133F of Scaglietti is a derivative of the F140 used in Enzo and 599. It is 65 degree V12 with an overall displacement of 6.262cc. In this iteration it incorporates direct injection and matches the horsepower of the Enzo with 660cv (40 more than the 599GTB). FF has a maximum speed of 335km/h and can reach 100km/h in 3.7". It is also equipped with a start-stop system called 'HELE'.

Like the other two new Ferraris, the California and 458, the FF has a dual clutch transmission made by Gertrag. The gearbox (7DCL750) has 7-speed and wet clutches. It is placed in a transaxle configuration in the rear, behind the rear differential.
Of course the biggest technical highlight is the all wheel drive, a first for a production Ferrari. The system is called 4RM, it is patented and supposedly 50% lighter than a conventional four wheel drive drivetrain. Carraro constructs the front transfer case, Bosch makes the engine and vehicle electronics and Marelli provides the 4RM electronic system. Officially that is the only information available for the moment, in the next chapter a recent Ferrari patent is presented in context with the new FF and the competition.
